itinerary

Day One

On arrival at the Lima airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel.
Accommodation: Casa Andina Standard Miraflores San Antonio (One Night)

DAY TWO

Early morning, you will be assisted with the check-in for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to the hotel. The morning is at leisure to adjust to the altitude and get ready for your afternoon excursion. You will visit the city of Cusco, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and home to a somewhat particular essence. The tour will start at the temple of Koricancha, an ancient Inca palace and main worship center of the Sun God, where the order of the Dominicans built an incredible church that can still be seen there. Then, you will tour the Plaza de Armas, where the Cathedral and the beautiful Church of the Society of Jesus, among other colonial buildings, are located. You will then continue the journey to the colonial church of San Cristobal to enjoy a spectacular view of the city. Afterwards, you will go on to the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, an Inca building known for its massive walls of hewn stone, located in a strategic location, on a hill, with a broad view of the city of Cuzco. Later, you will visit the famous archaeological complexes of Qenko and Puca Pucara.

Day Three

Discover the best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. In this route, starting on the Inca's Balcony, in Chinchero, a beautiful place with an impressive view, where twelve families still preserve their traditional costumes, showing you the traditional way in which they process the wool, and obtain those vivid colours for their textiles. Later, you will arrive in Moray, an impressing pre-Inca greenhouse; then, you will have lunch in a local restaurant. Afterwards, you will get to Ollantaytambo, one of the most monumental architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire. Then, you will follow to the town of Ollantaytambo, with narrow cobblestone streets that have been continuously inhabited since the 13th century.

Day Four

Today will be one of the high points in world tourism: Machu Picchu. Your adventure starts on a train ride to the city of Aguas Calientes, where you disembark and then board a bus that drives you to the actual Machu Picchu archeological site, where you will have an experience you will never forget. The tour includes every nook and cranny of this New 7 Wonder of the World and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site; afterwards, there is some free time for you to explore the site on your own or to relax. At the agreed-upon hour, you will descend to Aguas Calientes for lunch at El Mapi by Inkaterra; after this, you are free to explore Machu Picchu Town or go to the hotel to rest to be ready for dinner.

Day Five

Morning is free to visit the Machu Picchu archeological complex on your own, and then at a scheduled time, later on, board the train for the return trip to Cusco; you will stop at the Ollantaytambo Station and be picked up and driven to your hotel.

Day Six

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight to Lima. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The guided visit to Lima allows you to see the Historical Center: Plaza Mayor (''Main Square''), the Government Palace, the Archbishop's Palace, the City Hall and old streets with colonial mansions and Moorish balconies. You will also visit one historic convent, an icon of colonial architecture. The tour goes all the way to the modern district of San Isidro and Miraflores, where you'll appreciate Huacas or sacred Inca structures. Also, you will observe the Pacific Ocean coast from the vast seafront.

Day Seven (Final Day)

After breakfast, you are transferred to the airport where you will be assisted with your check in for your onward journey.

Frequently asked questions

How Would I Get to peru?

Depending on where you’re coming from, flying would be best. It will be best to fly into Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM). There are travel agents on staff that will help you find the right flight to Lima. Send an email to thehighjourney@thehighjourney.com! Please be sure to enter where you would be flying from and for how many people.

What Time Is Check-In?

We know that you can’t control the timing of flights and when they’re scheduled to arrive. Right when you land you will meet your representative and he/she will take you to the hotel.

WHAT TIME IS CHECK OUT? 

Check out from the hotel is at 11 am but if you need to leave earlier please feel free to do so we will arrange pick up for you. If you need to check-out later please email us if needed. thehighjourney@thehighjourney.com

IS TRANSPORTATION INCLUDED?

Yes, all transportation is included such as airport pickup, excursions, and airport drop-off.

WHATS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

You will be responsible for your flight getting to Lima. Pricing above also does not include travel insurance, visa’s, entry fees (if required), spending money on different excursions (drinks, extra food, gratuity etc)

Is My Deposit Refundable?

Your deposit is non-refundable after 5 days of payment.

What Payments Are Accepted?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express). We also accept Paypal.

Do I Have to Be In Canada or The United States to Join The Trip?

No, this trip is open to anyone in the world that has access to flying into Lima.

Do I Need A Visa To Visit Lima?

If you're visiting from Canada, or the USA, you will not need to require a visa upon entry. You will also need a passport for entry, and your passport must not be expiring within six months of arrival for other countries its recommended to research to see if you will need it. Contact us if you need help with applying for the required visa for entry.

Should I Get Travel Insurance?

Travel insurance is not required, but it is HIGHLY recommended that you purchase trip cancellation and medical insurance. It's always important to travel, knowing that if there was an emergency to erupt that you will be 100% covered. We offer insurance for all trips; please inquire for more information.

What Are The Rooms Like And Will I Be Sharing?

The rooms are for double/single occupancy. If you book with a friend, you will be able to share a room with them if you don't want to share a room with your friend you will be able to request a single occupancy room. Any special requests that you may need please feel free to contact us.
